Paramount drops HD DVD

According to The Hollywoord Reporter Paramount will soon have released its last HD DVDparamount123.jpg release.

Still no official word from the studio but Hollywoord Reporter writes:

A week after announcing it would return to Blu-ray Disc now that Toshiba has given up on its failed HD DVD technology, Paramount Home Entertainment says it is ending production of HD DVD discs.

The studio’s final two HD DVD releases will be “Things We Lost in the Fire” and “Into the Wild,” both coming March 4.

Paramount is expected to start rolling out Blu-ray Discs in the summer. Until then, titles will be released in standard DVD only.

Microsoft will sell last HD DVD drives for $49

After yesterdays announcement that Microsoft will follow Toshiba and drop the HD DVD add-on xbox360.jpg drive for the XBOX 360, they will lower the price for the remaining drives.

The company told Bloomberg that the last drives will be sold for $49. Companies like Best Buy are already selling the drive at this price.
